Middle school is a critical time in life, and a ‘fork in the road’ moment for students. At Aurum Preparatory Academy (Aurum Prep), we surround our students with a supportive, positive culture which instills optimism and a can-do attitude in our students.

Celebrating Growth
One of our most important choices in life is what our attitude will be in any situation - especially when unexpected or challenging things happen. From the very start of 6th grade, we begin to instill the value of growth in our students. We teach the attitude that “I can get better with hard work or effort.” Taking into account where each of us has come from, we create new possibilities and opportunities for our students, and celebrate them each step of the way.
Each week, we give recognition to the student who has demonstrated the most growth as well as the student of the week who has met the highest scholastic goals. These we call our Golden Scholar and Growth Scholar, and this recognition means a lot to our students. Being celebrated by your community is an important way to build self confidence and courage. When our scholars take risks, they even earn DoJo merits - another coveted recognition and way we build our close relationships at Aurum Prep.

We see our students flowering in our supportive systems and coming to life on a daily basis. We reward them weekly, and regularly spend time in reflection together to ensure everyone is living our values and understands what that means.
