Athletics at Aurum Prep
Updated: Jun 4, 2022
Aurum Preparatory Academy (Aurum Prep) may be a small community school, but our sports offerings are anything but.
Our student-centered school aims to grow the body and mind of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders through rigorous academics and challenging physical education. We are proud to offer a robust athletics program that includes competitive teams and exploratory physical education classes.
Physical Education for All
We believe physical education is for everyone, whether you are interested in a competitive sport or picking up a new hobby. Our PE classes help scholars discover new sports, such as badminton, volleyball and hockey, while also working new muscle groups. The risk-free environment of PE supports scholars to try out the sports that interest them, even if they’ve never played before.
Physical education also provides our scholars with brain breaks, teaching them that balancing our minds and bodies is an important life-long effort. Team games in PE help students learn essential tools for getting along with others, respecting authority, and effective communication. These are skills they can use for the rest of their lives, while gaining the healthy benefits of physical activity like stronger muscles, lungs and hearts.
Competitive Team Sports
If your middle school student is looking to join a team and grow his/her athletic skills, we offer a co-ed soccer team (spring through summer) and girls and boys basketball teams (fall to spring).
Aurum Prep is part of a district league that competes against other charter and public middle schools in the area. Our students have the benefit of attending a small school that can give them ample playing time while still getting to compete at a high level.
And Aurum Prep athletes are no strangers to winning. This year, the Aurum Prep co-ed soccer team went to playoffs and the girls basketball team won all but one game in their successful season! Way to go!
There is no greater time to find a sense of belonging and community than the middle school years. Our athletes develop confidence, leadership skills and life-long friendships on the court and in the field. They learn to win with grace and handle disappointment with dignity.
We love to watch our athletes push beyond their limits. And the cheering fans at home and away games are a testament to our small but mighty community.
Building Leaders On and Off the Field
The hard work and practice required on our playing fields directly translates into discipline and focus in our classrooms. Aurum Prep student athletes build the perseverance and self-motivation skills that inspire themselves, and their classmates, to achieve their dreams.
Our athletic programs develop life skills and give scholars a foundation for success that they can bring back to the classroom and into their futures. We celebrate successes, but also look at failure as opportunities to learn – building confident and fearless champions on-and off-the field.
Athletics at Aurum Prep extends our student-centered mission beyond the hours of a typical school day. We know that scholars who play sports show increased confidence, sharper brains, sleep better and develop stronger hearts and lungs—all things essential for children to grow into the best version of themselves.
Join us at Aurum Prep as we cheer on our scholar-athletes for the 2022-23 sports season. Our tuition-free public school is enrolling for 6th, 7th and 8th grade and we invite you to be a part of our team.
