Founding Math Teacher
Tiana West is the Founding Math Teacher at Aurum Preparatory Academy (“Aurum Prep”). Ms. West is a New York native and has been an educator for 3 years. She has taught middle school students in English as a Second Language and Math. She has also mentored elementary girls from her hometown on various topics like body changes, the importance of education, and friends. She is a graduate of Howard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, and a graduate of Boston University where she received a Masters in Education. Ms. West is an experienced leader in education and has extensive formal training in dance and performing arts. She has successfully worked with 8th grade students and has had them admitted into top tier college prep high schools in Massachusetts like, Phillips Andover, Brooks School, and Governor’s Academy to name a few. She participated in Teach For America’s African American Corps Member Summit, where she collaborated with other teachers across the country on lesson planning, culturally responsive teaching, and psychological awareness in students. Ms. West enjoys coaching track, and teaching step and dance. Her favorite sports to watch are football, soccer, and basketball. She believes in being a well-rounded student and educator and brings flexibility, respect, and dedication not only to all students whom she teaches but to the staff she works with as well.
