Originally from Puerto Rico, I was raised in Brooklyn, NY. Cupid's arrow struck and I moved back to the island of my roots, where I attended the University of Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras. I worked in the telecommunications industry as a Database Administrator/Billing Manager for what seemed like forever. Unhappy with my career, I decided to return to school and do something where I felt I was contributing to making this world a better place. I knew the impact that one teacher can make in changing a life around because one teacher did that for me. I became a High School English Teacher.
In 2017, Hurricane Maria hit my island which was already facing an economic crisis. The damage to the economy was so bad, that an exodus ensued shortly after. I was part of that movement stateside. Last year I taught in the Illinois Public School system, but unhappy with the weather, I kept moving west until I landed here in the Bay Area. I am the author of a novel currently on Amazon and am writing my second book, a Young Adult fictionalized version of my childhood. I have two boys, both studying at the University of PR. I am looking forward to making Aurum Prep my home.
