8th Grade Team Lead/
8th Grade Math Teacher
Being a teacher is the greatest privilege I have experienced in my life, and I am humbled and excited to be joining the Aurum Prep faculty. I graduated from Wellesley College in 2003 magna cum laude with majors in Political Science and Anthropology. Since then, I have had the privilege of working for a variety of public schools in Camden, NJ, Newark, NJ, and Denver CO as a teacher and administrator. I have worked at two Blue Ribbon Schools and have shown significant growth for students each year I have been in the classroom. Prior to taking a sabbatical year, my fourth grade students in Denver showed the second highest growth, as measured by PARCC, of all of the cohorts of 4th graders in Denver Public Schools. Most recently, I taught 6th grade math and science to girls and gender diverse students at a small independent school in Seattle, Washington. When I am not teaching, I love to be outside, read, and engage in activist spaces. I especially love teaching middle school because it’s a time when students, particularly students marginalized by systems of oppression, can either learn that they deserve to take up space in the world or learn to shrink. I love helping kids discover their power and place in the world as leaders and agents of change.
