Director of Diversity and Inclusion
James Jordan is the Director of Diversity and Inclusion at the Stanford Alumni Association. In this role, he leads the engagement of underrepresented alumni of color communities, ensuring that different perspectives, cultures, and experiences are welcome and included in SAA programs and activities. James’ professional career has been devoted to education, including nineteen at Stanford University. A native of Richmond, California, James is passionate about bettering educational access in urban schools, particularly in the East Bay. For eight years, he served as a trustee at his alma mater, Saint Mary’s College High School in Berkeley. He also served as the Chief Operating Officer at KIPP Summit Academy, a public charter middle school in San Lorenzo, CA, and as the Director of Development and Program Director for the Chicago regional office of Platform Learning, a supplemental educational service provider for elementary schools on the south side of Chicago. James earned a BA in American Studies with a specialization in race and ethnicity at Stanford in 1993. He earned his MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia in 2004.
