Dean of Curriculum and Culture
Barret Burkett is the “Dean of Curriculum and Culture” at Aurum Preparatory. In addition to his work on campus, Mr. Burkett is participating in a state and nationally accredited administrative credentialing and leadership program through “New Leaders” throughout the 2018-19 school year.
Mr. Burkett has over 11 years of experience in education which include teaching at the high school level in Oakland Unified School District and 5 years experience at the elementary level at a nationally recognized charter school organization. He has been a leading teacher in his previous organization, and has coached numerous teachers with great success through the Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) credentialing program. Mr. Burkett was a lead founder and organizer of Rocketship Futuro Academy in Concord, California. Barret brings passion and years of knowledge in both academic and social-emotional curriculum. He is a life long learner who is always striving to improve all aspects of his practice in support of providing all students with the high quality education they deserve.

To be able to provide all families and students of East Oakland with a G.O.L.D. standard of academic and social emotional learning is his true dream job.
